Albumin analyzers are a diagnostic instrument used for albumin testing. Albuminuria is a condition where the kidney leaks albumin into urine. An albumin test can indicate damage to the kidney and constitutes a formidable, common challenge for diabetic patients. An albumin analyzer can test for albumin presence from 5–150 mg/L sans dilution (2000 mg/L when diluted with isotonic sodium chloride) in urine as fast as 90 seconds. Albumin analyzers apply an immunoturbidimetric reaction within a microcuvette. The albumin analyzer then measures the resulting turbidity at 610 nm. The albumin tester can achieve results with spot-urine, allowing for a smaller, portable form factor. Albumin analyzers are simple enough to permit albumin testing by non-lab personnel.
