Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems are automated cleaning systems designed to clean the interior surfaces of equipment, such as food and beverage and pharmaceutical production tanks, pipes, and vessels. The CIP process utilizes chemicals, water, and turbulence to remove bacteria and debris from surfaces in a fast, repeatable and dependable manner.
Sterilization-In-Place (SIP), also called Steam-In-Place, is a process completed after the CIP cycle which provides sterilization by saturation of the vessel with high temperature steam.
