Laboratory Bioreactors and Fermenters

Laboratory Bioreactors and Fermenters Laboratory bioreactors and fermenters are enclosed environments where biological reactions take place.

Applications:

Used in labs that are involved in cell, tissue, or microbial cultures, cell biology, and the food and beverage industry, bioreactors and fermenters provide the cultures with the ideal environment for growth and metabolic processes.

Considerations for purchasing a Laboratory Bioreactor / Fermenter:

There are three basic types of laboratory bioreactors and fermenters, batch, fed batch, and continuous.

In batch bioreactors, the environment is contained and nothing is added or removed while the culture is inside, in fed batch bioreactors nutrients are added to the culture as it is goes through its metabolic process, and in continuous bioreactors the reactants are continuously put into the bioreactor producing a continuous outflow of product from the culture.

Laboratory bioreactors and fermenters come in glass or stainless steel and have volumes that range from 1 liter to thousands of liters.
