Clean Room Filter Systems

The cleanroom filter system is one of the most crucial components of a cleanroom, they are after all what keeps your cleanroom clean. Clean room technology generally involves the use of filters in order to remove sub-micron size particulates, as well as harmful vapors and odors when combined. The most common type of filter being the High-efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter. HEPA filters are typically composed of fiberglass and can vary in their thickness and fiber diameter. The standard of filtration for HEPA filters is the removal of 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.3 micrometers in diameter. These filters when used with a charcoal (carbon) filter are also effective at removing gasses and odor molecules.
Another type of filter available are Ultra Low Penetration Air filters (ULPA) which can remove particles 100 nanometers in size or larger.
Considerations for purchasing a clean room include the volume of air filtered and whether the filtration system needs to be a portable or in place system.
