Immunoblotting Equipment

Immunoblotting, generally referred to as Western blotting is an assay used for the detection of specific proteins interest from within a mixture which may contain any given number of proteins. First the protein sample is prepared, causing all the proteins to unfold be coated with a negative charge. Next, samples are placed in an electrophoresis gel and separated by size, after which they are transferred to a blotting membrane. Next, the membrane containing the protein bands is further processed and incubated with antibodies until the specific protein is detected.

Equipment utilized in the Western blot include the electrophoresis equipment such as the buffer tank, lid, electrode assembly, transfer systems, and the blotting membranes.
