Cepharanthine is a biscoclaurin alkaloid, which is a potent inhibitor and has been used in the treatment of several diseases. It is quickly incorporated into cell membrane resulting in membrane stabilizing actions such as the inhibition of: lysolecithine-induced hemolysis membrane hydrolysis with phospholiase A2 and lipid peroxidation.
