IKA donates 120,000 EUR to the Japanese Red Cross to help victims of the earthquakes/ All subsidiaries contribute 20,000 EUR

Staufen, April 28th, 2011 - On Thursday, the 28th of April, René Stiegelmann, Managing Director of the IKA group of companies, along with his son Marcel, hand handed over a symbolic check for more than 120,000 EUR to the president of the Red Cross, Baden-Wörttemberg, Mr. Jochen Glaeser. The amount is intended for the Japanese Red Cross. It is the sum of the donations from IKA® - Werke Staufen and its subsidiaries in the U.S., China, Malaysia, India and Japan. They have all contributed 20,000 EUR each. An additional amount of more than 3,000 EUR was donated by individual employees as a gesture in support of their Japanese colleagues.

In keeping with the intended purpose, the Indian subsidiary IKA® India Pvt. Ltd. will make its contribution to the Indian Red Cross by handing over a cheque for Rs. 13,00,000 (equivalent to 20,000 EUR) to Mr. K. R. Dharmappa, General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch, Bengaluru.

"IKA* has enjoyed positive business relationships with many Japanese companies for decades. With this contribution, we would like to express the solidarity IKA® feels towards Japan and the people who have been affected by the earthquakes," says René Stiegelmann.

Japanese IKA® employees have not been directly affected by the earthquake. Given the scale of the natural disaster, the colleagues there have agreed upon lending their support to the Japanese Red Cross.
