Description
Non-pyrogenic, well-defined liposomes, loaded with a molecule of choice, are formed by a single hydration step. 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is a non-pyrogenic phospholipid that has been shown to form well-defined liposomes that are capable of being loaded with a molecule of choice. This loading and vessicle formation is reportedly accomplished simply by a single hydration step. Research has shown that this encapsulation technique has been shown to increase the uptake for 125I-labelled polyvinylpyrrolidone by four times in an intestinal sac preparation from adult rats. More recently, compounds such as 5-fluorouracil,cyclosporin A and celecoxib have been used in this lipid encapsulation technique.Used to produce non-pyrogenic liposome capable of caging molecules
