1,6-Dibromo-1,6-dideoxy-D-mannitol is a mannitol derivative with bromides substituted for the terminal hydroxyl groups. 1,6-Dibromo-1,6-dideoxy-D-mannitol is a useful fragment for the synthesis of more complex saccharides and has specifically been described as a starting material for elaboration to 3,4-di-O-acetyl-1,6:2,5-dianhydro-1-thio-D-glucitol as an intermediate in the preparation of glycosyl donors
