Description

β-Estradiol 17-(β-D-glucuronide) sodium salt is a glucocorticosteroid estrogen metabolite formed in the liver, and excreted in bile. β-Estradiol 17-(β-D-glucuronide) sodium salt functions as a substrate of the multidrug resistance protein 2 (MRP2), and with its cholestatic agentry, β-Estradiol 17-(β-D-glucuronide) sodium salt can actually decrease bile flow. After binding to the MRP2 site, β-Estradiol 17-(β-D-glucuronide) sodium salt has been shown to bind to an allosteric site that activates its own transport via MRP2, and the transport of other MRP2 substrates including non-cholestatic estrogen metabolites. β-Estradiol 17-(β-D-glucuronide) sodium salt has also been observed being transported by MDR1, MRP1, MRP3, MRP4, MRP7, ABCG2, and rat organic anion-transporting polypeptides 1-4
