(±)-α-Tocopherol phosphate disodium salt is studied for its molecular mechanisms, specifically its methods of transport across plasma membranes. (±)-α-Tocopherol phosphate disodium salt has been used as an antioxidant. In rat hippocampal neurons, (±)-α-Tocopherol phosphate disodium salt has shown to protecet against oxidative damage. (±)-α-Tocopherol phosphate disodium salt may be used in a vitamin E supplement with similar but differential activities to the α-tocopherol acetate, α-tocopherol-nicotinate, α-tocopherol succinate and other esterified forms
