ω-3 Arachidonic acid is a rare PUFA found in trace amounts in dietary sources. ω-3 fatty acids are known to be essential for infant development and protect against heart disease, hypertension, thrombosis, and autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. In human cell cultures, ω-3 arachidonic acid has been shown to inhibit arachidonoyl-CoA synthetase (K:i:= 14 µM). Additionally, it has been shown to inhibit arachidonoyl-CoA synthetase in calf brain extracts (IC:50:value of about 5µM)
