Porcine Trabecular Meshwork Cells

Description

Porcine trabecular meshwork cells (PTMC) are primary cells derived from pig eyes. PTMC is cultured in porcine trabecular meshwork cell growth medium and can multiply to 10 times the population when cultured under recommended conditions. Trabecular reticulum cells are endothelial-like cells in the spongy connective tissue located near the front of the eye, and regulate intraocular pressure by controlling the excretion of fluid into the tube that flows into the blood. Changes in TM's contractility and tension mediate outflow, and due to their phagocytic properties, they can also be used as self-cleaning filters.
