Description
Staphylococcus is a genus of Gram-positive bacteria in the family Staphylococcaceae from the order Bacillales. It includes at least 40 species. Staphylococcus hominis is a coagulase-negative member of the bacterial genus Staphylococcus, consisting of spherical cells in clusters. A study found that Staphylococcus hominis secretes antimicrobial peptides, which have high antibacterial activities against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus; MRSA and Vancomycin-Intermediate Staphylococcus aureus; VISA. There is current research studying the potential of Staphylococcus hominis as a reducing agent to synthesize gold nanoparticles; AuNPs to antitubercular and anticancer therapies.
