Lipoproteins, Intermediate Density, Human Plasma

Description

Density: 1.006 to 1.019 g/ml; Composition: 83% lipid, 17% protein IDL functions in the endogenous lipid transport system. It is the particle resulting from the interaction of VLDL and lipoprotein lipase. When IDL receives cholesteryl esters from HDL, it is converted to cholesteryl ester-rich LDL. Purity: single arc by IEP against antisera to whole human serum. Essentially free of other plasma lipoproteins and chylomicrons as determined by electrophoresis using a SPIFE Vis Cholesterol gel kit for lipids and Coomassie Blue for proteins. >=95% of total lipoprotein content by electrophoresis
