We use this instrument daily to get absorption spectra on new and old materials. Before any in-depth testing occurs all materials go in the Lambda 35 for a quick absorption measurement. It's easy to use, reliable, fast, and is a great first step in material characterization. We're very happy with this instrument. It's not super high resolution but it's fast and works well for our needs.
