Culturing Mesenchymal Stromal Cells in Human Platelet Lysate

I have used PLTMax as a supplement to culture human mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) under xenon-free conditions. Briefly, MSCs were cultured in complete medium containing Dulbecco's modified eagle medium (DMEM), 100 IU/ml penicillin, 100 μg/ml streptomycin, and 2 mM L-glutamine (Sigma-Aldrich), supplemented with 5% human platelet lysate (PLTMax, MERCK, UK) and 2 IU/ml heparin. We found no significant differences in MSC characteristics using PLTMax compared to standard FCS.
