Easy to Use Instrument for Magnetic Separation

The QuadroMACS™ Separator is routinely used in our lab for the isolation of astrocytes from adult mouse brain. The equipment requires QuadroMACS Starting Kit (catalog number: 130-091-051) and the use of special LS columns (catalog number: 130-042-401) from Miltenyi Biotec. The QuadroMACS™ Separator generates a strong magnetic field when LS columns are placed into the separator. Because of the strong magnetic field generated, all magnetizable objects should be kept at a distance of at least 30 cm. It is very easy to place the columns with the column wings to the front into the magnetic field of the QuadroMACS Separator. We follow the Miltenyi Biotec commercial protocols for cell separation, which is very straightforward, fast, and easy. The equipment is bench-size and can be relocated under the biological safety cabinets for cell isolations under aseptic conditions. Highly recommend this separator.
