Nextrials to Offer Mobile Access to Clinical Trial Data and Study Metrics via Prism®’s New Apple® iPad™ Application

Prism iPad app gives clinical researchers immediate access to real-time patient data and delivers better study monitoring capabilities

Philadelphia (DIA 2012 Annual Meeting, Booth 2007) and San Ramon, CA – June 25, 2012 – Nextrials, Inc., a leader in clinical research software and services, today announced that an Apple® iPad™ application for Prism®, its award-winning clinical trial management platform, will be available toward the end of Q3 2012. With the new iPad application, pharmaceutical and biotech researchers will receive anytime/anywhere access to key data points, reports and statistics about ongoing studies. Regardless of location, the new application will enable researchers to view real-time data related to patient recruitment/enrollment status, demographics, queries and monitoring through Prism’s custom-built iPad interface.

Visitors to the 48th Annual Meeting of the Drug Information Association, being held June 24-28 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, can get a sneak peek of the Prism iPad application in the Nextrials booth (#2007).

"Today’s clinical trials and patient care are so closely intertwined that technology tools such as Prism’s iPad app are valuable from any number of standpoints,” said Robert Barr, chief technology officer for Nextrials. "The Prism iPad app gives sponsors the ability to better manage investigator site data, logistics and costs regardless of user location; and from the healthcare viewpoint, since the iPad’s usage at the bedside is increasing, primary care physicians can use the same device to see applicable patient data immediately through the subject’s permanent health record.”

As the leading innovator in the pharmaceutical software and services industry, Nextrials helped write the industry standards for integrating the electronic data capture (EDC) platforms used within clinical trials with the platforms used to collect patient data for electronic health records (EHR) in the healthcare setting. As a result, the converged technologies – Prism with its new iPad app and use of the iPad for accessing EHR systems – are powerful tools for researchers and healthcare workers alike, enabling them to improve the efficiency and continuum of patient care.

When it is approved by Apple (estimated to be in late Q3), Nextrials’ Prism iPad application will be available to all enrolled Prism users as a free download, accessible through the iTunes® store.

About Prism
Nextrials’ award-winning Prism melds sophisticated clinical trial management functionality with EDC in a single, integrated package. By receiving a constant flow of data, Prism enables sponsors and sites to fully utilize real-time integration of disparate information and data sources, such as a hospital’s EHR or patient records, to better provide high quality care for patients enrolled in clinical trials. This accelerates the time to market for new drugs and devices, improving trial safety and monitoring and substantially lowering development costs.

Prism has been globally deployed in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.
