SANYO Offers Researchers Energy-Efficient, Space-saving Solutions for Biological Sample Preservation

Invites scientists to give their samples the "VIP Treatment"

Wood Dale, IL- October 19, 2011 – SANYO North America Corporation (SANYO) Biomedical Solutions Division announces that it has launched a new program for the VIP® Series ultra-low temperature upright freezer line with industry-leading energy-efficiency at 15.1-kilowatt hours per day. Laboratories and research facilities that regularly store temperature-sensitive samples are invited to “Give your samples the VIP treatment,” highlighting consistent uniformity, energy and space efficiency advantages of the VIP Series. Tools to help universities, companies and researchers will also be available on the website www.upgradeyoursamples.com to quantify and understand both the energy and monetary savings achievable through an upgrade to SANYO’s VIP Series freezers. The program will offer increased awareness on the best practices in sample preservation using the VIP® Series -86ºC freezers, which have already preserved over two billion samples since being introduced to the global market.

“SANYO is a leader in commercial storage for temperature-sensitive biological samples, and our newer models now offer more capacity while actually reducing the footprint in the laboratory,” said Deepak Mistry, strategic marketing manager for the Biomedical Solutions Division.

SANYO’s new program encourages best practices, especially in sustainability and energy conservation. This is especially helpful in supporting green and sustainable practices sought after by leading universities, sustainability departments, companies and researchers that use preservation equipment in the laboratory.

In tightly controlled testing at -80°C in a 25°C ambient environment, SANYO’s 25.7 cu.ft. MDF-U76VC VIP Series freezer demonstrated 32% less energy use throughout a 24-hour period compared to the next closest leading competitor, according to internal performance data. It utilizes a mere 15.1 kilowatt hours per day. These results demonstrate how SANYO ultralow freezers reduce operational costs through higher volume efficiency, all while also minimizing HVAC loads in facilities and emitting less heat into the laboratory.

SANYO provides commercial laboratory equipment for pharmaceutical, life science and biotechnology applications. In July, SANYO added a new freezer, the MDF-U76VC to its current line of VIP freezers. For more information about the new program, please visit: http://www.upgradeyoursamples.com
