Scientists at Sygnature Discovery are looking to incorporate augmented reality (AR) into the drug discovery process. Current practice uses 3D software on a 2D screen to visualize molecular structures, which has limitations for visualization.
Using AR will allow teams to interact with these molecules in a 3D environment. Benefits of this interaction include increasing the functional outputs of these visualizations as well as allowing a research team to fully share and communicate directly in this space. The dual world immersion, combining visualization capabilities of the AR with the outside world, is a promising example of what is on the horizon for molecular visualization technologies.
