Cayman Chemical Receives Phase II SBIR Grant from NIAMS

The NIAMS has awarded Cayman Chemical a Phase II SBIR grant to help develop their small molecule bone repairing agent, KMN-159. With nearly 6 million fractures occurring in the United States annually, Cayman aims to develop an API, along with the medical device combination it is applied with, to promote bone regeneration in aging populations.

Their grant includes an additional award for animal studies at the University of Michigan, headed by Dr. Kenneth Kozloff. Future applications of this research could be seen in periodontal, orthopedic and craniofacial disorders.
