A novel silica nanoparticle technology, Nuvec, has demonstrated its effectiveness in vivo when utilizing multiple injections. The results of the N4 Pharma study confirm that under the appropriate conditions, Nuvec can promote transfection using DNA and RNA.
N4 Pharma’s next steps for Nuvec is to further develop the loading process in order to optimize its in vivo performance. Nuvec silica nanoparticles have spiky surface structures that couple with PEI to trap and protect nucleic acid as it travels to the cells. There it releases the nucleic acid to activate the immune system.
