The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) has developed a digital tool to help track products from the manufacturer to the epicenter of cases of illness. Dr. Andreas Hensel, President of the BfR describes the FoodChain-Lab software as a tool that compares the genetic profile of the pathogens determined in the laboratory with the delivery dates of the food in question, thus proving the source of contamination.
