Shimadzu Corporation has announced that they are partnering with the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute, a division of Providence Cancer Institute. The partnership is based on a joint research agreement to utilize mass spectrometry technology to design tool for personalized cancer immunotherapeutics.
Developed technologies will strive to identify cancer antigens recognized by a patient’s immune system and analyze the pharmacokinetics of immunotherapy drugs. The key aim will be to bring these novel diagnostic initiatives to early clinical application.
Masayuki Nishimura, Director of the Innovation Center at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments (SSI), said “Immunological therapy has emerged as an effective cancer treatment. An important part of this research is to identify clinical signatures that can predict the efficacy of immunological therapies”. He continued, “This partnership will integrate Providence’s leading cancer researchers and clinical resources with Shimadzu’s analytical technologies to contribute to the development of these new therapies. As a global leader in immunotherapy for cancer, Providence is an ideal partner to advance the application of mass spectrometry in immune-based cancer clinical research.
