Piezo Positioning Systems for Nano-Positioning Applications

Piezoceramic actuators are composed of a crystalline structure that expands slightly when an electric potential is applied, which is known as the inverse piezo effect.  By changing the voltage applied, very precise controlled motion can be performed.  Friction-free flexure guidance combined with lever amplification provides travel range of over 1000 microns and makes guiding possible accuracies in the nanometer range.
