Highly Accelerated Stress Test / Environmental Stress Screening (ESS Testing)

What is Environmental Stress Screening?

Environmental stress testing, such as highly accelerated stress testing (HAST), highly accelerated stress screening (HASS) and highly accelerated life testing (HALT), is conducted using specialized chambers designed to mimic a variety of environmental conditions. Environmental stress testing is used to put products and product components through their paces. Stress screening is used to test a range of product components and whole products such as electronics.

Types of test chambers:

Many different conditions can be accounted for using these chambers such as:
  • Altitude
  • Vibration
  • Dust
  • Salt spray
  • Shock
  • Pressure
  • Humidity
  • Thermal conditions
Specialized chambers are also available for larger products such assolar panels.

Buying tips

When looking for a stress testing chamber, the application, product size, and desired testing parameters must be considered carefully. Pay attention to the acceleration and deceleration parameters for ramping temperatures as well as the specific ranges of testing and measurement that the chamber can deliver.
