A hypoxic chamber, or hypoxia chamber, is a hermetically sealed laboratory chamber used to conduct tissue culture or live animal studies within a precisely controlled hypoxic environment. For laboratories conducting animal research within a hypoxic environment, hypoxic chambers are available in a hypoxic glove box configuration allowing researchers to work within the chamber without compromising the environment. Numerous sizes of hypoxic chambers are available, with sizes ranging from small tissue culture chambers to chambers large enough to house animal cages. Hypoxic chambers feature fine-tuning of oxygen levels via one-way valves and airlocks to allow researchers to precisely control the amount of oxygen in the environment.

Description | The importance oxygen levels play in various biological processes is increasingly significant to researchers. To study this requires consistent atmospheric control — maintaining hypoxia, normoxia, hyperoxia, or anoxia to mimic physiological conditions. Coy offers a complete line of glove boxes and The importance oxygen levels play in various biological processes is increasingly significant to researchers. To study this requires consistent atmospheric control — maintaining hypoxia, normoxia, hyperoxia, or anoxia to mimic physiological conditions. Coy offers a complete line of glove boxes and cabinets that enable you to maintain desired levels of CO2, temperature and humidity, along with oxygen control.
Our modular design allows us to configure systems, including custom designs, to meet your needs whether for tissue culture or live animal studies.
Making Choices
Configure a system based on your application. Live animal or tissue culture systems are available that accommodate common accessories for these protocols. If you need to do manipulation within the controlled environment, glove boxes would be the best choice. Cabinets are most often used for short experiments or initial feasibility studies.
Glove Boxes utilize glove ports and an airlock (transfer chamber) to allow access to the chamber interior without disruption of the experimental environment, unlike cabinet or incubator systems.
Cabinets are simple hermetically sealed containers with shelving and a front-loading door, typically used for short-term experiments, dynamic oxygen-cycling studies, placement within standard incubators, or multi-level oxygen studies.... O2 Control Cabinet System standard features: - O2 controller and sensor (option available for ramp and cycle)
- All tubing and fittings to connect gas source to cabinet and controller(s)
- Pressure relief valve
- Two sensor ports
- Circulation fan
- Gas inlet
- Pull-out sliding shelf (multiple shelves for InVitro units)
- Sizes for tissue culture: four standard size units capable of handling nine to 72 plates
- Humidification tray for tissue culture units
- Sizes for live animal study: three standard sizes to meet your needs
- Custom-sized units available to meet specific lab needs
Tissue culture units are designed to use existing lab incubators for temperature control while completely controlling oxygen levels (and optionally, CO2) inside the cabinet. The units enable long-term incubation and experiments with simultaneous O2 levels. Pull-out shelves provide easy access to samples.... Animal units are designed around cage size, with custom sizing available. Waste removal can be handled by placing soda lime and/or activated carbon in a user-supplied containment tray. For a large number of animals or extended studies, the Coy Animal Filtration System is recommended. This system circulates the cabinet atmosphere through capsules of CarbO2Lime® carbon dioxide absorbent and activated carbon to remove CO2, ammonia and other gases....
