DSC Sample Preparation

DSC sample preparation is a critical step to improve the accuracy of your differential scanning calorimetry analysis. DSC samples are typically weighed into crucibles or pans before being placed into a crucible press to seal the lid, this allows for powder, liquid, or solid sample types. DSC sample preparation often involves cutting a material to an appropriate size for analysis, this can be accomplished with handheld sample cutters but automated sample cutters are available and offer reduced sample variability and an increase in analysis throughput. Another commonly used item is an antistatic crucible box that allows for simpler DSC sample preparation and storage. Most DSC sample preparation equipment is capable of preparing samples for use in a DSC autosampler, further streamlining the sample prep and analysis of your samples.
