Piezo Stage / Piezo Microscope Stages

Piezo stages, also referred to as nanopositioners, give researchers the ability to create higher-quality images in less time by achieving nanometer and even subnanometer resolution levels paired with very high precision and speed. Piezo stages are used in high-resolution microscopy applications such as Z-stack acquisition, 3-D imaging, scanning microscopy, and laser technology. Piezo-actuated Z-drives can typically achieve much higher focusing speeds (up to 10× higher) than classic motorized drives, and with movement of up to 100 sections per second, enable very rapid optical sectioning.

Stages are available in XYZ formats and in combinations thereof; additional key points to consider are image analysis software compatibility and the profile of the stage (piezo systems’ often lower profile will permit easier integration into the microscope system).
