C5a desArg is a naturally glycosylated polypeptide containing 73 amino acids with a molecular weight of approx. 10,250 daltons. C5a is the most potent anaplylatoxin (compared to C3a and C4a). C5a desArg is produced when C5a is“inactivated” by removal of its C-terminal arginine amino acid.
