Western blotting is a commonly used analytical technique that allows researchers to separate and identify proteins from a cellular sample and confirm protein-modifications. The proteins are separated from a mixture according to their molecular weight then transferred to a support, usually a membrane/film, and the targeted protein is then marked with antibodies for visualization.
