Carbon Analyzer / Carbon Combustion Analyzer

Carbon analyzers, also called carbon combustion analyzers, determine the amount of carbon in a substance of unknown composition and have important applications in environmental and pharmaceutical labs, among others. To measure the amount of carbon, the sample is first weighed and then loaded into the analyzer. In the analyzer, the sample is combusted in the presence of excess oxygen which results in products that include carbon dioxide and water vapor. The carbon dioxide can then be analyzed in a variety of ways such as infrared detection. Things to consider before purchasing a carbon analyzer include whether the carbon to be analyzed is organic or inorganic, the detection method, the software used for analysis, throughput needed, and if other elements can be read.
