Single Beam Spectrophotometer (UV Visible)

A UV-Vis spectrophotometer is used to determine the absorption of light from a sample and can be used as a detector for HPLC. A sample is placed in the UV/VIS beam and absorbance versus wavelength is measured. A single beam spectrophotometer utilizes one beam of light that passes through the sample and the intensity of the light reflected from a reference is measured without the sample.
