The nEXT300D Turbomolecular Pump from Edwards is a fantastic piece of equipment that we use widely for all of our UHV needs.
This pump can easily get down to pressures below 1x10-10 bar when used in tandem with a dry scroll pump and runs virtually silently!
The maintenance and part changes are easy; I have serviced our entire fleet of 10+ turbo pumps in a day before. The pump is surprisingly lightweight for such a powerful piece of kit and it comes with a variety of attachment options.
The only downside is the fragility of the turbine blades, but this is to be expected of any turbo pump. We had a bird strike incident that completely destroyed one of our pumps, but that was entirely user error. Aside from needing a delicate hand at times, I cannot fault this product.
I suggested switching from the Leybold pumps that were in use to these for both an increase in performance and ease of maintenance. Our lab team has never looked back. I cannot recommend these pumps strongly enough.
