Author Submission Guidelines

Labcompare is intended for anyone who has a professional interest in the application of modern scientific instrumentation for the practice of analytical/bioanalytical chemistry and applied spectroscopy in basic research, environmental research, the life sciences, pharmaceuticals, forensics, clinical diagnostics, food quality and safety, and materials science.

Labcompare Feature Articles may comprise:

  • In-depth reviews of the most current technology or method(s).
  • Up-and-coming advancements/new developments/future uses.
  • Current issues, e.g., current challenges of food safety, environmental toxicology, etc.
  • Interviews with researchers/scientists who are developing some of the latest technologies (or finding new uses for existing technologies).

Feature Articles should be no more than 1500 words in length with a maximum of 3 inserts.

  • All articles should be informative and educational.
  • All articles will be edited to conform to Labcompare’s style guide.
  • Promotional articles will not be accepted. Statements that, in our opinion, are contrary to the editorial objectives of the journal or that are unacceptably promotional will be edited.

Manuscript

  • All communications should be written in Standard English following the usual style of chemistry journals.
  • A brief title should describe the subject of the article concisely. Include a 50–75 word Abstract at the beginning of the document.
  • File format: Microsoft Word document.
  • Articles should be about 1500 words with a maximum of 3 inserts/images.

Images

  • All figures, references, and tables should be numbered consecutively and cited in order in the text.
  • High-resolution graphic files, for use as figures in articles, are accepted in any of the following formats: .jpeg, .gif, or .png
  • Figure captions should be listed in order on a separate sheet.
  • While we welcome photos with your article submission, if you do not provide one, Labcompare may choose a representative stock image to run alongside your article for visual purposes.

Author Information

  • Include each author’s official title and affiliation, as well as a short 2-3 sentence about the author.
  • For the first author, include the above as well as complete contact information (e.g. email address).
  • Authors should not have marketing titles.

References & Citations

  • References should be listed in order at the end of the article using standard journal abbreviations.
  • Reference citations in the text should not be linked to references.

Article Submission

Articles should be e-mailed as a Microsoft Word document to Michelle Taylor, Editor-in-Chief at [email protected] or Labcompare Editorial Department at [email protected] to be considered for online publication.

Manuscripts should be submitted a month prior to the desired publication date.

Assurance must be given that the manuscript has not been submitted for publication elsewhere and has not been posted online.
