I am using this flask with non-adherent THP-1 cell line (human monocytic cell line), however you can use it for adherent cells as well. The cap of the flask has a filter which lets the cells exchange the oxygen or carbon dioxide but at the same time it keeps the medium sterile. I have never had any contamination problems due to the malfunctioning of the cap of the flask.
