Hanks' Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS)
I am using this physiological medium in cell culture. In my experiments as a cell model I am using HEK-293 cells (Human Embryonic Kidney Cells) and I am going up to 3 hours of incubation in that medium. I have never crossed a cell death problem. However, even though it is a physiological medium, I highly recommend checking the pH of the solution before your experiments especially if you need to be precise. Also I find it a bit expensive.
