I use these PBS powder to reconstitute into 5l water to make 1X PBS pH 7.4 The advantage of this powder is you don't have to adjust the pH of the buffer. For cell culture related work, I do recommend to filter sterilize the buffer or autoclave the solution after reconstituting. Although the packets are slightly expensive compared to the individual salts, it saves a lot of time if you are a heavy PBS user.
