Sodium Pyruvate for Cell Culture

I have been using sodium pyruvate in our cell culture DMEM media as an additional carbon source alongside glucose. While not essential for all cell cultures, it's commonly added as cells naturally produce it in the glycolysis pathway. I have found that when cells are accustomed to medium supplemented with sodium pyruvate, it's beneficial to continue using it to avoid potential growth delays.
