November 29, 2012,State College PA SoftGenetics announced the release of the latest version of its NextGENe software which now includes a module for Copy Number Variation (CNV) analysis, a user selectable reporting capability, as well as several additional user requested enhancements.
“NextGENe’s CNV analysis tool”, states John McGuigan, Biologist, “utilizes a proprietary method for normalizing coverage between the two samples- a list of heterozygous SNPs with allele percentages close to 50% is generated for each sample, and the median coverage for these alleles is used to normalize two samples on a global level. After normalization, a representative position is selected for each region and used to calculate a log2 ratio and a confidence score. When selecting a position for comparison, a heterozygous mutation in one sample is preferred so that any allele frequency changes can be used to examine potential loss of heterozygosity, similar to existing CNV methods.”
“The new custom reporting option” indicated NextGENe Product Manager, Kevin LeVan, “provides users with the capability to tailor the analysis reporting to meet their specific needs. Users easily pre or post processing select from NextGENe’s myriad of reports to meet internal reporting criteria. Generated reports can either be printed or saved as an electronic file.”
NextGENe is a comprehensive, free-standing Windows® based analysis program for all NGS sequencing platforms. The easy-to-use user interface requires no scripting, provides highly graphical results and reporting, with multiple filtering options, multiple analysis comparison capabilities as well as causative prediction from multiple databases including COSMIC, dbNSFP which includes 1000 genome frequency, PolyPhen and other functional prediction databases.
The company offers 30-day trials and no cost web-based training on its genetic analysis software packages Interested parties may request the software on the company website: www.softgenetics.com or via email: [email protected].
