INDUSTRIAL IMAGING, MEASUREMENT AND ANALYSIS TOPICS COVERED IN OLYMPUS ONLINE EDUCATIONAL VIDEO GALLERY

CENTER VALLEY, Pa., June 6, 2011 - Olympus has expanded its comprehensive Industrial Microscopy Online Education Center with a new video gallery full of helpful presentations on such important industrial research topics as roughness analysis, counting and measuring, report generation, imaging and more. The gallery can be found at http://www.olympus-ims.com/en/metrology/ols4000/multimedia/?apd=1&adid=video&acid=ieJune11_pr

Among the most exciting features of the new gallery are two educational seminars presented by Chris Brown, Ph.D, founding director of Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Surface Metrology Laboratory and Haas Technical Education Center. Dr. Brown, who is also Vice Chair of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Surface Qualities Standards Committee and a former Director of the Society for Manufacturing Engineers, offers a video introduction to roughness analysis and a detailed review of height parameters. In addition to Dr. Brown's surface metrology seminars, the online video gallery offers tutorials on other important scientific and industrial applications. A number of "how-to" videos provide visual step-by-step instructions for handling important measurement and analysis tasks with key hardware and software.

The new tutorial video gallery is part of the ever-expanding online Education Center on the Olympus America Scientific Equipment Group Industrial Microscopes website. The Center also includes nearly two dozen articles and application papers on topics in industrial imaging, inspection, measurement and analysis, along with a microscopy frequently asked question (FAQ) section. Online versions of product brochures are available for download as well.

"Olympus is well known for focusing on customer education and training along with providing the best instrumentation and software. We are deeply committed to helping users get reliable data to help them with their research, engineering and manufacturing applications," said David Rideout, marketing manager for industrial microscopes at Olympus America Inc.
