New NMR Software Analyzes Data in Any Browser

Remote work and virtual learning have now become the norm in many industries, but laboratory science is one area where working from home is often not an option. Still, many flexible, portable or cloud-based tools have been made available to assist productivity in a remote or hybrid work or educational setting. One example is the Spectrus JS software recently launched by informatics company ACD/Labs, which allows users to process and analyze nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data from any internet browser.

Spectrus JS works on Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems and can process 1D and 2D NMR data from all major NMR instrument vendors. The software does not require any large downloads or installation and can be accessed directly from any computer with a web browser and internet connection. This online tool aims to support remote workers and virtual learners through flexible access from any location and ease-of-use for any expertise level from undergraduate to veteran scientist.

“I could not have asked for more than this innovative browser-based NMR processing software with all its accessibility benefits,” said Kristóf Cank, a final year PhD student performing natural product research at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, who was a beta tester for Spectrus JS. “Spectrus JS makes structure elucidation comfortable from anywhere with its intuitive, highly customizable, and super easy-to-learn interface.”

The software can perform manual and/or automatic Fourier transformation, phase correction, baseline correction, peak picking, integration, multiplet analysis, signal analysis and more, and users can also generate a PDF report of their analysis. Spectrus JS is available for individual users from a central server, while small research groups or classes can host from a central computer and large organizations can host on their organizational intranet or cloud, giving individual team members secure access from their own devices.

ACD/Labs offers a free 3-week trial of Spectrus JS upon request. The new program adds distributed processing for NMR data to the ACD/Specturs product portfolio, which offers data handling solutions for a range of analytical techniques.
