New Metrohm System Enables Multi-user Electrochemical Analysis

A new solution from Metrohm DropSens aims to improve efficiency, flexibility and user experience in electrochemical analysis. The Metrohm DropSens µStat-i MultiX is a 16-channel bipotentiostat, galvanostat and impedance analyzer, allowing simultaneous measurements across multiple users and disciplines. Additionally the µStat-i MultiX features remote capabilities, allowing each user to perform measurements and analyze data from afar.

The 16 independent dual channels can be used simultaneously using the same or different techniques, allowing users to save time and multiply their results, according to Metrohm. The instrument is suitable for conventional electrochemical cells or screen-printed electrodes, and can be used in a wide variety of applications including hydrogen permeation, fundamental electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, sensors, corrosion and coin-cell batteries. The instrument also enables advanced electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) analysis, including simultaneous DC measurements, alternating electrode EIS, fit-and-simulation and time elements such as Lissajous.

Measurements can be performed and analyzed using the DropView 8400M software and by remote connection, allowing each user to perform experiments or treat resultant data without needing to be near the device. The DropView 8400M software, dedicated exclusively to Metrohm DropSens instruments, is tailored to allow users to take full advantage of the µStat-i MultiX instrument’s capabilities and leverage new possibilities for multiple analyses controlled by several users, according to Metrohm. Software features include independent channel control, advanced features for impedance measurements, multipotentiostat and multigalvanostat modes, combination of potentiostatic and galvanostatic steps, real-time data comparison and the ability to automate experiments, in addition to remote connection.

The µStat-i MultiX has a three-year warranty and can be custom-configured with the option to upgrade the hardware in the future by adding channels in groups of four to the maximum of 16. Each group of four channels can also be configured with galvanic isolation, allowing users to work in floating mode.
