Waters Corporation's new 12-channel enablement kit for the Andrew+ Robot expands the platform’s pipetting capabilities for pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, QC, and analytical development laboratories that perform routine plate-based assays. The new capability enables single-, 8- and 12-channel pipetting on Andrew+ Robot through OneLab Software, helping laboratories rapidly automate row-based workflows such as ELISAs, immunoassays, endotoxin testing, and serial dilutions while preserving established methods and familiar labware formats.
In representative 96-well serial dilution and ELISA preparation workflows, the solution can reduce hands-on time by up to approximately 90%, shortening an approximately 3-hour manual procedure to roughly 15–20 minutes of deck setup, while automating at least 90% of pipetting steps and delivering reproducible row-by-row parity at ≤5% CV across replicate 96-well plates. This modular, connected platform provides a practical route from time-consuming, error-prone manual multi-channel pipetting to walk-away automation in a connected, no-code software environment designed to support accurate, reproducible, and GxP-ready execution in regulated settings.
Regulated laboratories are under increasing pressure to improve their productivity, accuracy, reproducibility, and data integrity, while managing complex routine workflows and constrained resources. Many plate-based QC and bioassay methods still rely on manual pipetting as traditional automation can require method redesign, specialist programming expertise, or changes to validated SOPs that can trigger additional revalidation work.Andrew+ Robot 12-channel pipette capability addresses this challenge by allowing scientists to digitize existing protocols in minutes, using their existing electronic pipettes, in OneLab Software and execute them on Andrew+ Robot, eliminating hours of repetitive, hands-on pipetting for operators, improving accuracy and reproducibility by reducing manual variability, increasing operator-to-operator consistency, and supporting GxP-ready, audit-ready execution.
The 12-channel enablement kit combines compatible electronic pipettes, Andrew+ Robot and OneLab Software for automated sample preparation and plate-based assay workflows. Because Pipette+ Device and Andrew+ Robot now share the same single-, 8- and 12-channel pipettes and the same OneLab Software protocol, a method validated by hand on Pipette+ Device can transfer directly to Andrew+ Robot for walk-away execution, avoiding time-consuming SOP rewrites, revalidation work, and coding.
Analysts can dependably execute methods with GxP-ready features including method traceability and audit trails, while expanding their workflows with Domino Devices for heating, shaking, magnetic bead separation, and solid phase extraction. Connectivity with Empower Software, MassLynx Software, and waters_connect Software supports integration from sample preparation to analytical result. Together, these capabilities empower laboratories to increase throughput, reduce manual variability, and improve accuracy and reproducibility, while maintaining continuity with established, validated methods.
