A pH meter measures the acidity or alkalinity of a substance by checking the ratio of positively charged protons to negatively charged electrons using a probe. A portable meter allows you to accurately check the pH of a sample outside of the lab. This comes in handy for environmental studies such as those measuring water and soil quality.
