Refrigerated incubators and cooled incubators are designed to maintain a constant temperature based on cooling requirements for research. Typical temperature settings range from -50°C to 65°C based upon varying convection types, though forced air circulation is most commonly used. Refrigerated incubators and cooled incubators are suitable for a variety of applications including microbiological sample testing and bacteria research, curing, hermatological testing, enzyme digestion studies, coliform determinations, crystallization studies, tissue culturing, histochemical procedures, dry and staining procedures, shelf-life testing, and water pollution testing.
There are two main types of cooled incubation, Peltier-cooled and Compressor-cooled systems. Peltier systems require more energy input and generally slower when compared to compressor systems. However, Peltier-cooled systems are generally quieter, more economical to produce, and are less complex in design.
