Orbitrap Mass Spectrometers

The Orbitrap, also known as the Kingdon trap, is a type of ion trap mass analyzer employed by certain lines of mass spectrometers. Compared to its other ion trap mass analyzers, the way the orbitrap works is based upon the ion trajectories as they move through the electrode, which follow an orbital path. Ionization can vary by the system, but commonly includes atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) and electrospray ionization (ESI).
