Solid phase extraction cartridges and well plates are a necessary consumable when performing SPE. Available in different polarities and sorbents, high-quality SPE (solid phase extraction) cartridges and well plates are the key to reducing interference while maintaining a high throughput of complex matrices. Typically, a well plate will be used for high-throughput workflows. When larger samples are to be prepared cartridges are a common choice amongst most laboratories. The size of the cartridge will be dependent on your specific type of chromatography; however, typically the cartridge size should closely match the volume of wash solvent to be used. Smaller SPE cartridges will typically require less solvent for elution while a larger cartridge will require more solvent for elution.
