FTIR or Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy is a non-destructive, rapid, and precise form of infrared radiation spectroscopy. FTIR spectroscopy operates on the same principles as other IR spectroscopy, samples can be identified based on the spectra produced by the absorption of the infrared radiation. A portable FTIR spectrometer functions the same as a benchtop FTIR instrument, however, it makes rapid analysis of samples in the field possible as it is an entirely self-contained spectrometer.
